Bryan M. Brooks, M.D.
Bryan M. Brooks, M.D. is an Board Certified ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology) specializing in small incision cataract extraction with lens implant, Laser Vision Correction (Lasik / PRK), medical and surgical management of glaucoma, laser surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic diseases of the eye. He has a special interest in advanced technology lens implants to reduce patients’ need for glasses after cataract surgery. He also performs routine comprehensive examinations, as well as those for the management of ocular disease. Dr. Brooks has office hours at our Innsbrook office location.
Dr. Brooks has active membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, the Richmond Academy of Medicine, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Brooks has hospital privileges at the Stony Point Surgery Center.
Dr. Brooks has served as Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. He has provided medical and surgical ophthalmic care to underprivileged individuals at the Crossover Ministries Clinic in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Brooks completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia, where he served as chief resident. He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He is a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia, where he received a B.A. in Biology. He also received an M.S. in Anatomy from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Brooks grew up in Springfield, Virginia. While in Medical School, he met his wife at a local church. He and his wife have 2 children and live in the West End of Richmond.
