Examples of Contact Lens Prescriptions

There is information on a contact lens prescription that is
not needed for this evaluation.  Here, we are mainly interested in the
power (sphere, cylinder, axis, and bifocal add) of the lenses.

 

 


You can also determine the prescription from a box of contacts or an
individual container.  Here are some examples.  Note, if no axis is specified (usually 1 to 180) then there is no cylinder (not a toric lens).  If only one number is listed, it is the sphere (+ or -).  In the bifocal example below, the second number is the add.  There are no bifocal lenses with cylinder.
