D. Alan Chandler M.D. is a Board Certified ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology) specializing in small incision cataract extraction with lens implant, medical and surgical management of glaucoma, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye disease.
Dr.
Chandler was one of the first physicians in the Richmond area to use the
AMO TECNIS intraocular lens implant, which received FDA labeling approval for
providing superior night vision after cataract surgery, compared to other
lens implants.
Dr. Chandler implants multifocal intraocular lens implants such as the
AcrySof®
IQ
ReSTOR® lens implant and the
AMO TECNIS Multifocal
IOL. These new lens implants give the potential for the uncorrected
vision after cataract surgery to be excellent for both near and distance vision.
Dr. Chandler also uses the Alcon toric intraocular lens implant to help correct
astigmatism at the time of cataract surgery, and well as performing limbal
relaxing incisions to reduce astigmatism.
Dr. Chandler has been practicing in the Richmond, VA area since 1992, but previously he had attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, and had attended high school in Chesterfield County.
